Introduction
One of the key principles of living an healthier life is bettering your diet. Your diet isn’t particularly “ a diet”, or, like most people would think, a period where you try to eat healthier in order to lose weight. When I say diet, I mean a day-to-day way of eating.
And, most people’s diet is full of processed foods, sugars, artificial sugars, low in protein and high in carbs and unhealthy fats. This is why, before continuing with this article, which was created to give you 10 healthy ingredients that you should add to your diet in order to improve your health, we need to assess which diet you should follow.
Mediterranean diet, Paleo diet, Carnivore diet, Low-carb diet, Keto diet, all of this doesn’t matter. What matters is that whatever diet you choose, you should eat only 100% natural foods, or at least 90% of your diet should be composed from natural foods.
If you got this right, your diet and your health can be improved immeasurably. Think about it, if you’ve not been optimizing your diet in the past: what ingredients that are bad for your health could you remove?
Perhaps it is the milk in the plastic bottle, as plastics tend to leach microplastics ESPECIALLY in beverages and ESPECIALLY in fatty beverages. It’s a microplastic depot.
Perhaps it is the chocolate squares at the end of the day or the icecream infront of the TV. There’s many things you can remove to make your diet healthier, and, once eating only 100% natural foods will be an habit, you’ll simply enjoy this diet as your taste buds will be “resetted” to a natural diet, not full of extra sugar and addictive substances.
Once you got this right, we can finally move on to integrate the top 10 healthy ingredients I think you should add to your diet in order to better your health, your brain, your hormonal system, and everything in between. Let’s get started.
Eggs
Eggs are an excellent food for health. Contrary to popular beliefs, eggs are not unhealthy and are not a source of bad cholesterol. For years, the fitness industry or nutrition industry or simply health industry thought that the egg yolk in eggs was bad.
Many studies had proven that it can raise cholesterol and the potential risks for high cholesterol include heart stroke, etc. However, new studies that are rising found that eggs are actually extremely healthy for us, that for most people it doesn’t raise cholesterol or it raises it very slightly (even if you eat 4+ a day), and that when it raises it, it raises good cholesterol, which is ESSENTIAL for the body.
Our body naturally produces cholesterol in some of our cells, because cholesterol is so vital for us. It enables for example the production of testosterone, a quintessential hormone for mental and physical health in both men and women.
Cholesterol is fundamentally important to our bodies, and it doesn’t even have that big of an impact on our health when eaten through eggs! Eggs has HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol), but eggs doesn’t have much an impact on cholesterol anyway contrary to popular beliefs. In fact, most of our cholesterol problems doesn't necessarily come from our nutrition. Sure, it plays a role, but it's not the whole story.
If you don’t trust me, you can make your own research online. Many reputable sources and studies backs my claims.
Also, the egg yolk present in eggs work like a multivitamin supplement. It is full of vitamin A, D, E, K, B1, B2, B5, B6, B9, and B12, of riboflavin, choline, and more. It is full of healthy fats for your health. And, the egg white is full of high quality protein. So, eat your yolks and white, no compromising.
So, eat eggs. 2-4 a day, or even more if you want. I personally eat 8 eggs a day, everyday.
Olive oil
Olive oil is also a great, healthy food that you should ABSOLUTELY eat in order to improve your health. DO NOT BUY OLIVE OIL IN A PLASTIC BOTTLE, as it could leach THOUSANDS of microplastics into your oil (microplastics particularly love fatty beverages).
Olive oil is full of healthy fats and antixoidants which can reduce your LDL (bad cholesterol) levels. It doesn’t impact HDL levels tho. In other words, olive-oil is a cure for bad cholesterol, and not only is it tasty and you can use it in almost all meals, but it’s also high-calorie which can help you gain weight easily. If you’re trying to lose weight, be careful about how much olive-oil you consume.
I don’t have much to say about olive-oil except that it’s a great, nutritious food. Cooking eggs, red meat, or anything in olive-oil can really boost your health.
Red meat
Red meat is generally not recommended by dietitians. It is known from dietitians to raise bad levels of cholesterol. However, eating red-meat is actually healthy for our bodies, at least if you’re not overeating it. And this is especially logical when you consider we’ve lived off of red meat for thousands of years.
We had to chase the mammoth and the beef and the lion, and our ancestors used to be way stronger than the average human being nowadays. I think red-meat is actually not that bad for health.
Now sure, if you eat too much red meat every day, it might cause health problems down the line, but red-meat is generally fine as part of a healthy diet in healthy quantities. Sure, if you eat like poop and then proceed to eat a ton of red meat, you might develop diseases through the long-term consumption of red meat, but if you have a perfect, natural, healthy diet, red meat shouldn’t do you much harm.
Also, it’s important to assess that red-meat has a ton of good minerals and nutrients, a lot of good vitamins as well as macronutrients (high in protein and fats), which makes it an excellent protein source. Mainstream media and some scientists blame red meat for all kinds of health risks, such as cancer, high cholesterol, diabetes etc, without looking at the fact that since the past years, red meat consumption has decreased significantly and veganism, seed oils, sugar, and processed foods consumption have exploded through the roof, therefore explaining the rise in cancer, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
Another example of how red meat is good for your health, take a look at Mikhalia Peterson. She is a young woman full of life, she looks perfectly healthy, and guess what: she only eats beef since years now. Red meat is essential for healing. For health.
Really, we’ve eaten red meat for thousands of years before, and that’s because red meat is very powerful for health, despite what mainstream media say. Personally, I’ll continue eating red meat, and I encourage you to do so too.
Blueberries
Blueberries are great for your health and are generally recommended especially for their richness in vitamins and minerals and antioxidants properties. Antioxidants can help reduce the risk of many diseases and can improve health immeasurably.
On top of that, blueberries are quite low calorie, and they are absolutely delicious, probably the best fruits out there in my opinion.
Honey
Honey is also full of antioxidants and is generally great for health. Being a natural sweetener or simply a source of healthy sugars, honey is high in fast digesting carbs which can help performance before a workout. Plus, honey is delicious, and can be adapted to many meals.
On top of that, it’s great for healing wounds, coughs, and it helps with your health generally. There’s a reason why we’ve ate it for thousands of years.
Brasil nuts
Brazil nuts are an incredibly healthy food which will help your health in every single way. It is full of antioxidants such as vitamin E or phenols. Therefore, it has properties to reduce inflammation and generally it’s great for health.
It’s also full of good cholesterol (HDL) and it’s a good source of protein and healthy fats. It is, on top of that, absolutely delicious. It’s high in calories so be careful about that if you’re trying to lose weight.
One downside of brazil nuts is that they’re very expensive. Apart from that, brazil nuts are incredibly healthy. Also, I didn’t mention it, but it can help with brain health and bone health, as well as the production of testosterone.
Salmon and tuna
Salmon and tuna are generally great and healthy foods. Salmon is more caloric dense than tuna. Both are rich in protein and moderate in fat.
Salmon is full of good vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin D, B12, B6, iron, and more.
Tuna is rich in iron, calcium, iodine, potassium, zinc, B vitamins, selenium, and choline, which is great for health. Both are great sources of protein and are also full of healthy Omega 3’s.
We seldom get enough Omega 3’s in our society, and we should get more through supplementation and sea-animals consumption, especially fishes. Omega 3’s are a must for our bodies health, and can help reduce cardiovascular diseases, and increase testosterone. It has a ton of other benefits but I’m not going to list everything or else this article will be too long.
Fruits
I’m not going to beat around he bush: bananas, pears, apples, mangoes, pineapple, all of these foods are super healthy. Of course each food possesses individual properties but simply include more fruits in your diet.
Each fruit is filled of good and healthy minerals and vitamins, as well as healthy carbs and sugars. Some of them, like watermelon, can also be full of water and therefore help you reach your water intake goals for the day.
I personally eat on a daily basis apples. Then, bananas and blueberries can be optional, and mangoes too. I don’t eat pears often, but any fruit works. Strawberries are also great for health.
Cashew nuts
Cashew nuts offer a wide array of benefits and are less expensive than brazil nuts. Cashew nuts are a good source of protein, magnesium, iron, zinc, and healthy fats.
I don’t have much to say except that you should eat cashew nuts more often (unprocessed without any seed oils). Be careful tho, they’re high calorie and quite expensive still, even tho they’re, like I said before, less expensive than brazil nuts.
Cashew nuts can also help boost testosterone. Also, consider eating almonds. Almonds are great for testosterone and libido, and are a source of antioxidants for the body.
Avocado’s
Avocados are generally great for health. Medical News Today says that “Avocados are a source of vitamins C, E, K, and B6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium. They also provide lutein, beta carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids.”
Avocados are very healthy for you and your body and will help you boost your testosterone too. The magnesium and boron present in the avocado’s can indeed boost testosterone, as some studies have suggested.
