Embracing self-growth
Solitude isn't always a bad thing. There is a particular power, in silence. Think about it, how powerful it is to sometimes sit down and simply allow yourself to think, undistracted? Have you ever tried how powerful it is? Sometimes, I can come up with incredible projects and ideas, or a certain wisdom, or at least, a relaxed mind and body.
What I'm trying to say here, is that solitude is sometimes a good thing, and even tho solitude shouldn't be your original, "basic activity" (you should be meeting people, having fun with others and discovering the world and so the social world around you), it should still be a regular activity in your life.
For example, sometimes, going for a walk alone can help you relieve stress, improve your mental and physical health, deal with problems, find solutions, relativize, and release the pression off of your shoulders. Taking deep breaths and enjoying a moment with yourself during meditation can help you improve concentration and know yourself better.
It can help deepen the connection with yourself. If you never spend time alone, you might become a very shallow individual because you keep hiding from your true self by acting like someone who's cool to others, or you might act authentically, but never be able to see who you truly are, for yourself.
Being alone and being in solitude can bring lots of happiness in one's life, and lots of progress in one's self-improvement journey. Think about it, a lot of us, like I said before, get ideas when being alone. This could help you reflect on yourself, like a moment for yourself alone, where you reflect on what you did good, bad, medium, what you could improve, which habits to instill or remove, etc. It could also help you discover more about your values and goals, erase old values and goals, or adopt new values and goals.
It's a way to understand and find yourself, and therefore, if we understand and realize ourselves, we can also fix ourselves, if we've got some dysfunction.
Creativity and silence
Many artists use silence as one of their biggest tools to discover new ideas for every type of projects. Sometimes, just sitting in a place and doing nothing, not hearing anything, not seeing anything, just a black, isolated room, can help ideas pop up for new projects for example.
When you spend time alone in calm places, your brain can and will often ente a state of reflection and processing. You might get yourself totally lost in the moment and not even be there, but be in your own mind, like of you skipped a page or two of the book.
Inspiration comes from moments of calm, where you can reflect and think. Allowing your brain to process emotions and informations from the day can be truly helpful. It can prove to be very relaxing, and it can make you more productive and sometimes even more creative. Spending time alone is a great way to put everything into place.
Use the metaphor of a nice, clean garage. You try to keep it clean, so when problems strike, just like storms strikes, you need to put back in order what fell off of its place, or what arrived in your garage. So, you need to clean the garage, put things into place, and in this way, you can be ready to improve.
If you let the garage pick the dust over time, if you don't put objects back into place, if you avoid the work and turn on the TV, you're going to be pretty annoyed, irritated, constantly stressed, and maybe prone to physical and mental diseases. You might develop anxiety, or start worsening yourself and worsening your confidence and self-worth.
Observing
One thing that is also important in this whole principle of staying silent is to simply observe. In our modern world, we're very prone to acting and controlling. We try to control a lot of things, even things that are completely out of our control.
And one big lesson that we should all learn and try at least once, is to stop acting, stop controlling, and just sit there once in a while, just observing, watching, understanding, processing, etc.
Just sit there once in a while, be it on a bench, a rock or a bar in your city, in a park, in nature, and observe. You might have the impulsion to do something, but just sit there and watch. Force yourself to just relax and do nothing and WATCH.
By doing so, you might start gaining in productivity, relaxing and gaining in creativity too, from what we've said before. Because yes, it's quite productive to do nothing from time to time. Periods of hard work should be followed by periods of relaxation.
Observe how people function, how birds fly, how the world works, how cars run, how buildings stay apart and how the clouds move into the sky. See how the world turns, moves, act, changes, and realize that most things are out of your control.
Be proactive. Watch your words. Learn to stay calm. Learn to be stoic. Observe. Be STOIC. Learn to process emotions and keep your mouth shut, think before speaking, try to gain in wisdom. See how things function and learn your place into all of this big country the world is.
Religion
Silence is also a good way to build a relationship with god. Sometimes, staying silent and sitting in a religious place, or simply watching the sky or seeing nature do it's life in-front of you, can help you think about religion, it's nature, wether you truly believe in it, and maybe even pray.
Use silence sometimes as an opportunity to pray, and pray in your mind for the god you believe in. The idea here is to really let go and stop wanting to control everything once in a while, just realize your place in the universe, why you're here and why you're going to be out in a few years, decades or who knows, in a century, and relax.
Work hard and make the incredible things happen, work on yourself, and then simply sit down and relax. Once in a while, enjoy these little moments of essentially... doing nothing but looking at the sky or seeing life pass by. I'm not asking you to do this every day, but once in a while is good enough, to remember the nature of the universe and why you're here on earth.
Activities
So, what are great activities that are healthy for us, to reflect on the nature and beauty of life? Watching sunsets and sunrises are two great activities. Seeing the sun rise in the sky for the first time in the morning or seeing the sun set down in the sky to let the moon take it's place, is very healthy for our bodies and also allows us to reflect on life, our goals, values, and the beauty of life. It's a beautiful moment that is relaxing, and calm, and comforting.
Taking nature walks, going to cafe's, walking in the city or sitting down on the beach or simply observing the sea or the ocean, are also great activities to wind down and simply smile and be happy in the moment. These activities are great because they're small activities of everyday life that makes you happy, at least I think it's moments that can truly make you happy.
Like, just sitting in a cafe and speaking with a good friend, or doing nothing in a cafe and seeing people pass by and laugh and pay and make jokes and meet with others, is a good moment in and of itself, I believe. Just sitting and taking a moment to process.
So, do these activities from time to time, if you can. In this way, you can deeply relax and put back things in order. Meditation and full consciousness also is a great activity you can do, by the way.
Conclusion
To conclude, realize that taking time for yourself is important for self-growth. Meditate, take walks, breathe deeply and just observing the world could prove to boost your health and be beneficial for your wellbeing, be it physical or mental.
