Learn to relax

As people start working on themselves and inhibiting self-control and discipline, they also tend to forget about relaxing and taking moments for themselves. Relaxation and having fun are both key to winning in life. Achieving your goals, building great relationships, becoming a better person, all of these endeavors are easier to achieve when you work hard, and THEN relax.

I always like to observe nature in order to learn more about the world, because ultimately, humans are animals and we are a part of nature. Hard work is important, as we can see with the insect or animal or plant kingdom. Ants work hard every single day, lifting heavy objects and bringing it to the colony, colonizing and exploring the world, and cooperating with each other. Lions chase everyday and work hard everyday, they explore and defend and prevent deaths and causes deaths, they are part of one of the greatest predators in the world and are probably in a constant alarm mood.

Trees grows and work hard to produce fruits and plants, and so one day they die from their hard work because all their lives they’ve been working! So, one thing I think is important, is relaxation. Because even tho ants and lions work hard everyday, they also sleep for a while. They also play with each other, lions fight with each other for fun and go and run around for fun. They probably explore for fun too.

So, what can we learn from all of this? We should learn that working hard is very important, and it’s perhaps the most important part of all, but relaxing can be as important too.

And when I say « relaxing », I’m not speaking about instant gratification. Instant gratification is when you have instant pleasure (instant gratification), without having done any hard work to achieve it. It’s eating a donut, it’s watching TV or playing video games. This is « relaxing » to some people, but I don’t think it’s a good definition of relaxing. It’s more like hurting your brain with hormonal problems and injuring your health, which is not relaxing at all.

I think people say these things are relaxing because the pleasure they cause make them forget about everyday problems. The thing is, if it’s only a key to forgetting your problems, it’s quite bad. You should rather go to sleep and gain energy so you can tackle your problems. You should rather meditate so you can be more focused and build the life you want. So let’s see the best habits that could help you relax.

Relaxation habits

Meditation is one of the first ones that comes to my mind when I think about relaxation habits. Meditation is simple: sit and focus. But it’s great. Meditation has been scientifically proven to enhance focus and concentration, as well as calming the body down. It also helps you become more present in the moment, and therefore it’s very healthy as constantly worrying about the past or future is quite tiring both mentally and physically.

So try to meditate 5 minutes everyday. At first, force yourself to only do 1 minute, and progressively add minutes throughought the days until you can meditate 5 minutes everyday. This is a great way to start.

Sleep is also super important. You should sleep at least 7 hours a night, and if possible 8 to 10 hours every single night. Sleep is really one of the most important health habits, and experts weight their words when they speak about the importance of sleep. Sleep repairs your body, is relaxing, gives you energy, helps digestion, helps mental health, physical health in every way (hormonal health, gaining and repairing muscles, the immune system, etc). In other words, sleep is CRUCIAL and should be taken seriously. Sleep is incredible, really.

Sports are also great. Training hard at the gym or running around for dozens of minutes might not seem relaxing, but it actually makes you feel good and proud of yourself, and it’s super healthy for your body and mind. 100% recommend it as a relaxation, technique.

Going to cafe’s, bars, and restaurants, and having good social connections with others throughought the day can also prove to be a great way to relax. Going to a cafe with a friend and drinking coffee speaking about life and seeing the people around you walk and speak and laugh is relaxing. It’s like a nice, sunny Sunday. It feels good to be alive. Remember that social connections are crucial for happiness, so put an emphasis on seeing people everyday.

Walking in nature, or in your city with no goal but just « walking » and « visiting » and discovering places and exploring is also a great way to relax. It’s a way to calm down and just go back to the basics of life: you’re breathing, you’re alive, you can walk, you’re fine.

Also, reading is super useful as it’s very relaxing, before sleeping or upon waking up, it can prove to be a pillar in your morning routine! Read self-help books and avoid stupid fictional books. Learn things. Discover the world.

Deep breathing throughought there day is also one of the best ways to relax. You should focus on taking deep breaths that you should feel in your belly every single day. Try to remind yourself constantly to take deep breaths, it’ll help you manage stress better and live in the present.

Morning Routine

A morning routine can also prove to be quite relaxing. If you can’t have a sustainable morning routine throughought the week, try at least to have one during the week-end. Your brain loves habits.

A good day begins often with a good morning routine. Not ALWAYS, but often. If you are disciplined and you work hard in the morning but you also spend time for yourself and have a nice time, you’ll often times kickstart your journey with such an energy that the neighbor last door will begin to be suspicious wether or not you use cocaine before going to the gym.

Try to be consistent. Try to form a morning routine that is consistent. Wake up, take a cold shower (hard work 1) or have a moment of your shower where it’s super cold (such as turning the water cold for the last minute), go and read in nature or meditate or go for a walk (relax 1), go and work on your business project (hard work 2), then calm down and prepare and dress nicely (relax 2), etc.

So, remember that you should balance out relaxing and hard work. Exert discipline and then do something that is pleasurable and relaxing and fun.

I think a morning routine can really start your day greatly, and it can help you continue the day in a great manner. So, invest in it. Write out your perfect morning routine. And, check this one, that I prepared for you a few months ago and that you can use right now. Click here.

Conclusion

To conclude, remember that balance is key overall. You should work hard and relax, train hard and sleep well, sprint and then rest for a few seconds or minutes, write and think, etc. But try to put an emphasis from now one on relaxing and spending time for yourself, and balancing it out with hard work. In this manner, you can work really hard on your projects, and also relax and have a great time. That’s to me a good balance to a great life.
